Museum founder Dard Hunter traveled around the world investigating and documenting hand papermaking techniques and traditions. The results of his travels were distilled into books that introduced audiences to the world of paper. Hunter wrote 20 books on papermaking, eight of which are wholly hand made.
"In Search of Origins" explores how Hunter created these works, from planning extensive journeys to gathering primary sources to creating these special limited editions. In addition to Hunter's books, the exhibit includes drafts of his works, letters planning research trips, and photographs used to document paper history.
