A composer is found dead, and the concert must go on! What are we to do? Why, we call the inspector, who must quiz the orchestra to found out exactly what went on! Was it the brass instruments? Was it the Bassoons? Find out as Orchestra Miami’s Nicklaus Children’s Pinecrest Outpatient Center Family Fun Concert Series begins with The Composer is Dead, a murder mystery for the whole family from the twisted mind of Lemony Snicket. This hysterically funny, tongue-in-cheek introduction to the orchestra, with music by Nathaniel Stookey, will be performed by the 46 musicians of Orchestra Miami, conducted by Elaine Rinaldi. To set the scene of mystery and murder, the orchestra will also perform Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” & Berlioz’s chilling “March to the Scaffold” from Symphonie Fantastique. 3 p.m. Sunday, October 15, at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57th Ave., Pinecrest; 305-274-2103; orchestramiami.org. Tickets cost $10-$18.
